| The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Memorial was commissioned by the Kentucky State University Alumni Association in 1990 under the leadership of Dr. Gashaw Lake. The site design was in collaboration with the architectural firm of John Carmen & Associates in Lexington, Kentucky. The bronze of Whitney is slightly over life size on a five-foot base. The Bright Foundry in Louisville, Kentucky cast it. It was dedicated on October 9, 1998. |
