Thomas H. Routsong Dayton, OH I must say, Ed, you came a long way for dinner Saturday night at Jay's in Dayton I hope you enjoyed your dinner with your friends; they seemed very nice. Since you are an artist, it was too bad you couldn't get a better look at my wife's cane. The old man that made it in New Zeland was a salt- of-the-earth person who also was an artist, though not of your quality. Your bronze work is exceptional as is your website. THR

Bill Buchanan Richmond, VA, USA Big Ed, I should have made comments many years ago; no matter, the works are par excellence. The scope and breath of your talents augmented with the awesome pieces you have created are unquestioned. God has truly blessed you. I know Bernadette has been there in your corner from the get, my brother. You know the best is still yet to come for you. From one fellow artist/designer, you have been an inspiration to Black Louisville artists. I must say you are the true embodiment of what Montage was all about. and I'm not patronizing you. I'm just proud to know you and so glad that God has allowed me to get to know and be a true friend to you. The true artistic realm of mind, body and soul is definitely you. Jarina V. Ali Catchings-Gelvin Baltimore, Maryland U.S.A. My GreatGreatGreat Grandfather was a solider in the Civi War. He was a slave in Prince George County, Maryland. My grandmother is still living and remembers "Grandpa" never spoke of his experiences as a slave. He loved the 4th of July. My great uncle who was an educator, completed the reseach that preserved this part of our family history. Now that I am older, I will continue my uncle's work so that my children will inherit this legacy of our American family. I am so grateful to my Grandfather William H.D.T.Wilson for his courage. The monument is beautiful. It is befitting that we honor those soliders who carried Freedom's standard for the future generations of our people. jvgelvin2@highstream.net

Gerald A Jones Frederick, Maryland, USA Thank you Mr. Hamilton for your great work and significant contribution to the historical Hampton University landscape. I was a trumpet player in the symphonic band at the dedication ceremony under the baton of Sylvester Young and remember the feeling of connection with history that was conveyed by your spectacular work. I stop by the site every year when I visit the campus for graduation or homecoming and I am perpetually rivetted by the symbolism of Booker T. pointing to the Emancipation Oak. Thank You! LMJohnson Los Angeles, CA USA Yo Ed, Thanks for the 'personal' tour of 'From the Other Side' at the Speed last week, since I couldn't be there for the (gala!) opening. It was amusing and refreshing to hear the lowdown on some of those pieces I saw you working on back in the '70's! Truly inspiring work. And yet, your obvious greatness notwithstanding, you're a model for sanity and calm in our current crazy times. I'm amazed that you're as humble today as you were 35 years ago!! Keep the faith and carry on! Best regards, lmj
